
Samantha Garcia
Production Intern
Samantha Garcia is a Bronx native and New York–based filmmaker, photographer, and emerging creative director whose work captures moments of fashion, community connection through visual media. She’s a multidisciplinary creator who works across theatre production, design, acting, cinematography, directing, post-production, videography, and photography while writing and directing films, campaigns, and documentaries that amplify voices through visual storytelling. She is passionate about learning new things.
She is currently pursuing a B.A. in Theatre and Media Studies within the City University of New York system, specificallly transferring into Hunter College, where she also studied Arts Management and Business. Her creative work spans campaigns, shorts, films, fashion media, and collaborative productions work including BXFW (Bronx Fashion Week), CUNYbyStudents, CUNYOutfits, Little Island, and Lincoln Center, alongside media and production collaborations with organizations such as PEN America and more.
Samantha’s passion for storytelling began through youth advocacy and community media work. As a high school student, she led a media initiative recognized by a NYC District Council Member’s Office that successfully secured funding for a new recording studio and library in her Washington Heights school. She continued to later dedicate her creativity in advocacy conversations with city leadership, politicians, and partners from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to raise awareness and support many communities including, youth protection and anti-trafficking efforts.
She also holds a certification from Harvard Extension School through the National Education Equity Lab and serves as an Ambassador on the National Education Equity Lab Student Advisory Board. Through her work across film, theatre, journalism, and media, Samantha aims to uplift meaningful stories, bring sparks of compassion back into education and art. Archiving meaningful stories and memories using cinematic visual storytelling to connect communities, capture shared experiences, amplify advocacy and identities that shape our shared world. She also loves video games, animals and adventures.
